Kallan has such a hard time moving from home-schooling back to a regular classroom setting.

She had always been such a confident and carefree child . . . I was just floored by her fear and her hesitancy and her tension.

Everything worked out in the end.

But for a short while?

Even things like the way she shaped her letters seemed huge and unfair.

I am so glad that part is over.

Thanks, you!

Aw. Those details worry me, too, where my first daughter is concerned. Last year we moved to from Australia to the US. For how many years? Not sure yet. But my eldest will be starting elementary school this year. I hope the variations in handwriting etc won't confuse her with her schooling when we do (eventually) move back. It sounds silly, but it was one of the first things that went through my mind when we first considered doing this move.

I miss Kallan's straight little letters.

She is all flourishes and curves now.

And her lower-case k's? Do occasionally look like R's.

Because Kallan is not a girl who focuses on the details.

At all.

Aw, such a sad little story. So nice that it has a happy ending! It's so umpleasant seeing your children having a tough time and there's not really anything you can do to fix it sometimes. And.....and, I sent a message earlier today regarding the k's of your previous post. It the same thing with my daughter...what's up with these new fangled curly looking k's? I learned the nice straight ones and now they are all saying it's all wrong. And, plus...when kids don't take enough care in making these small k's they look a lot like R's!

I feel for you both. 3rd grade was when we moved to Vacaville, the only difference was that we moved before school started. It was a hard transition for Annalise (and thus for me) and we were just going from public school to public school. Once we got past the first full month things did get better. hang in there!
