First, for those of you who don’t know how I do things.
I comment where and when I feel like it, but mostly? I comment where I am invited. If you have something you would like me to read . . . whether it’s something you wrote or something written by someone else that you would really like to share . . . submit that post to me.
Yes, I know I am a huge pain in the ass.
Yes, I know that’s not how everyone else does it.
Yes, I know.
I comment everywhere I am invited or sent, and I do the best I can to leave meaningful and interesting comments.
And from the posts that are submitted to me, I select Featured Bloggers.
I have been featuring three per week.
From now on?
I will be featuring just one a week.
But guess what? I will also be featuring a second blogger every week who likely doesn’t even know I exist. Someone who has caught my attention as I wander through the internet . . . someone who deserves your attention.
I know! This is going to be awesome.
You know you want to see what I find.
You so do.
So this week?
I have two people for you to read . . .
Jaime from The Story of Us
Jaime commented a while ago on a post I wrote called I am rocked.
She said . . .
I am reading this late because I still have no internet at my house, but I am having a very vulnerable day. Very vulnerable and very sad. I have just fallen into this post.
Funny . . . I feel so vulnerable, but I felt the need to write a blog post about my most vulnerable time ever. I haven’t hit publish yet, not sure when I’ll be able to…maybe never. I am not always so brave…you always seem very brave. I totally respect that about you.
Anyway, just wanted to comment because I so feel this today.
Jaime
And then Jaime decided she was brave enough to hit “Publish.”
The post she wrote is called Just a Dream.
It is gorgeous and heartbreaking and courageous.
And if you have a moment? Leave her a comment. Let her know that you came by to read her words.
She has brilliant words.
Francesco from Medium Large
Karen (who comments here often as Nil Zed) suggested I take a look at Francesco’s blog. I read one post and was in love. He is in the midst of writing a series of posts capturing The Day Penthouse Shot on Our Dinner Table.
I am featuring the first part of this series, because I know that you will not be able to stop there. At the bottom of the post is a Next: Part Two link that will take you to the next part of the story. There are four installments so far, each better than the last.
Also?
Francesco is the cartoonist behind Sally Forth, which I am not even going to link here, it is such a horrid cartoon. If I had known that’s who he was? I never would have clicked through. But believe me, despite what Sally Forth would lead you to believe about this man?
He has amazing talent.
And because Francesco does not need any more attention than he is already getting?
Go for his words, but feel free to leave without commenting.
SNORT!
And if you do leave a comment, don’t tell him I am talking shit about Sally Forth.
Francesco doesn’t have the first fucking clue who I am, and I would hate for us to get off on the wrong foot.
Ahem.
Shhhh.

I went and read Jaime’s post.
I am all teary eyed now.
She is lovely and her words are lovely.
Going to check out Francesco now.
Sad that you have whittled the FB’s to only one
:( <– My sad face.

Who knows what I will decide in a few weeks, but for now? It felt as though the first blogger I mentioned got a lot of attention, the second some, and the third not so much. Especially if they were themed around a particular topic.
I would like to be able to drive some readers to the posts I select, and at 3 per week . . . I am asking my readers to visit and appreciate more than 150 additional posts per year.
Plus . . . there re some amazing things out there written by people who have never heard of Pretty All True.
So I have decided to see how this works for a bit.
As I said, who knows what I will decide in a few weeks?
Love you.
And I am delighted you liked Jaime’s post.
It is a fabulous post!
Kris
Kris,
I know I placing myself at risk, but I am going to disobey. I cannot forgive Sally Forth. But Jaime is lovely.
And just for the record, whoever draws Family Circus should be flogged.

As I said, if I had known Francesco was the man behind the drivel that is Sally Forth? I never would have clicked through.
So I understand.
That said . . . the post I featured is worth a read.
It so fucking is.
Kris
Apparently you’re going for the roller coaster effect…from Jamie almost making me cry to Francisco almost making me burst into fits of giggles – all while I have insomnia. ;-) Question about the FBs…if people sent in an entry to you, is there any way to find out if we have been/will be picked, or will it just be a possible surprise someday?
Sharon -
I pick Featured Bloggers as I am touched by the words people send me.
So no . . . no way to let people know in advance. I picked Jaime from 4 possibles last night, because I went to look at the comments I had left at all 4 posts. Jaime’s stood out.
And I am glad you went to check out Jaime! Her post is exquisite.
So happy that you gave Francesco a shot.
He is awesome.
Gotcha. OK thanks. Will try again one of these days ;-)
Sharon -
Send me links, babe. I need direction . . . and the fact that I have not featured a post of yours does not mean that I would not like to connect with you. Does not mean that I wouldn’t like to read the posts that are important to you. Does not mean that I wouldn’t like to comment and share my emotional response to the words you have gathered and arranged.
So send me links.
Yes.
Do that.
Kris
Cool. Thanks! Sent another one a few hours ago. Have more I will post at another time. Thank-you! ;-)
Yay!
God. Sally Forth?
I canceled my newspaper subscription just so I wouldn’t accidentally open the comics page and glance at that shit.

I think it’s a little bit funny that the two commenters who feel strongly enough to comment about how they won’t click through because of the Sally Forth taint?
Are men.
Issue with taint, boys?
Just wondering.
The only issue I have with the taint is that it’s not penetrable. It’s like an unwanted intermission during the musical called ‘sexytime.’
You asked.
So click through and read.
You big baby.
Sally forth . . .
Hee hee!
Wow…I am just…speechless! Thank you so much Kris! And thank you to all your lovely readers for reading and commenting. What a wonderful way to start my day :)
Jaime -
Happy sighs.
That was a lovey brave piece of writing and sharing.
I was honored that you sent me the link.
Delighted to share that post here today.
Yay!
I already follow Jaime but somehow I missed this post.
Thank you for featuring her and this post.
As for that other guy? I’m on the fence. So much controversy. I don’t know if I want to get in the middle of all that. I don’t even know what Sally Forth is. It’s the not knowing that make me reluctant.
Alright.
I want the name of the fool responsible for the slowness of this blog.
I’ve tried to be patient but I have had enough.
I mean, come on!
I see one comment coming in at 2:17 and then your next complaining comment coming in one minute later.
Snort.
This is you patient?
That’s an ENTIRE MINUTE.
It actually could be TWO entire minutes if the first comment posted at 2:17:00 and the second posted at 2:18:59.
I said I tried to be patient. I made no mention of actual patience.
You are a loon.
Ces (Francesco) is so much better than Sally Forth. He didn’t originate it, but took over the drawing and, eventually, the text. But he does so much more, please don’t hold it against him. Sally hardly comes up on his blog, except to be made fun of. Especially the husband. Also, the Tale of Penthouse Photoshoot is so worth reading.
Would Kris steer you wrong?
Karen!
Yay! I had planned to send you a message letting you know I how much I loved Francesco.
I have not gone back into his archives that much yet, but the Penthouse shoot I mentioned and linked?
It is awesome. Just fucking awesome.
But there was no way for me to not mention the Sally Forth thing . . . I was SO surprised the same man who did that cartoon also wrote these stories.
He is worth a look.
More than worth a look.
Yay, Karen!
Thank you for suggesting him.
Also I just noticed the voting banner at the bottom of the mobile version of the blog. My excuse for hardly ever voting was I almost always read on my phone. I owe you months of clicks for failing to notice that sooner.
Snort!
Also?
Yes . . . what you said before!
PEOPLE?
I NEVER STEER YOU WRONG.
Exactly.
Thank you, Karen.
So grown up and mature of you to still feature Francesco, after finding out about Sally Forth.
I love how you didn’t let that change your appreciation.
Very grown up.
Alexandra -
I can be a grown-up.
What?
Yes, I can!
